A 19-year-old man appeared in court in Greenock on Mondayafter the 4x4 vehicle belonging to Bute’s coastguard rescue team was vandalised at the weekend.

The damage, estimated at around £2,000, saw the vehicle’s windscreen and driver’s door window smashed.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning near Ettrick Bay, after an unauthorised beach party in the area involving a large number of teenagers; police had called the island’s coastguard rescue team to help in a search to ensure everyone in the area was safe.
