A 44-year-old man was arrested by police following a disturbance in Victoria Street in Rothesay shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The man, who is not resident on Bute, was charged with a series of assaults, including one count of assaulting a police officer, as well as resisting arrest and obstructing the police in their duty.

He appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday and was released on bail with a special condition barring him fromsetting foot on Bute until the conclusion of the case.
