With just three months to go to Bute’s 29th annual Jazz Festival, the hunt is on for volunteers who will take on the invaluable jobs of ticket checking at the various venues in the town and staffing the Festival shop in Rothesay.

“We are starting our appeal a little earlier this year in the hope that a few more people will become involved which will lighten the load on everyone,” said Festival chairman, Tim Saul.

“Volunteers need to be reasonably fit as it can involve standing for quite long periods and as an incentive we will be giving those offering their services a steward’s pass so that they can be part of the audience at other Festival gigs.”

The Festival commences on the afternoon of Friday 29th April with a total of seven venues in use and checkers will be required mainly in the afternoons and evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The shop which sells tickets and programmes and provides general information will be open from around 10am each day and will be staffed on a shift basis.

A full briefing and information pack will be given to all volunteers prior to the event

“Even if you can just do one afternoon or one evening, I would love to hear from you. We depend on ticket revenue to balance our books so you would be carrying out an important job for us,” added Tim.

Anyone wishing to volunteer can get in touch with Tim on 01700 502922, by emailing sales@rothesaymusicshop.com or by calling in at Brechin’s on Bridgend Street between 10am and 2.30pm, except Sundays and Mondays.
