Inspector Gordon Anderson highlighted the recent drugs arrests within the town at the most recent Bute Community Council meeting in Port Bannatyne on Wednesday evening.
A search of six houses in September revealed drugs in five of the properties, which Inspector Anderson attributed, in part, to the quality of information received from the public.
Asked by Chair Grace Strong if the recent detections meant the rate of drug possession had gone up on the island, Inspector Anderson said: “We get information in various ways, through Crimestoppers, anonymously, etc., which makes it so much easier for us.
“We put the pieces together. For us to get a warrant we need information to act on, and lately the information has been very good.”
