Bute Community Council is to appeal for a re-think of plans to scrap the Rothesay-based police inspector’s post.
Police Scotland is consulting on proposals to reduce the number of inspectors in the Bute, Cowal and Helensburgh area from three to two, and to re-deploy the post’s current occupant, Gordon Anderson, away from the island.
Community councillors agreed unanimously this week to write a letter objecting to the change.
One BCC member, Mike Blair, said: “It’s another nail in the coffin for Bute. We’ve seen things being taken away, we have no voice at all. Why would Helensburgh keep an inspector post when Dumbarton is six miles down the road?”
