Planning permission is being sought to build two houses on this empty site in Rothesay's Academy Road.

Planning permission is being sought for the construction of two new homes on a vacant site in Rothesay’s Academy Road.

Initial Home Developments Ltd, of Yoker, Glasgow, wants permission to erect two three-storey houses, each with four bedrooms, between Academy Apartments and Ian Villa.

A design statement by the applicant’s agent, ZM Architecture Ltd, also of Glasgow, says the proposed development would be served by on-street parking spaces.

But Argyll and Bute Council’s roads department has recommended that permission should be refused because, it says, there is not enough room on Academy Road for the recommended number of parking spaces.

Members of the public have until June 27 to comment on the application, which can be found online by clicking here.

A previous application by I.W. Joinery and Construction Ltd, for permission to build six flats, plus vehicle access and off-street parking, on the same site was withdrawn in March 2006 prior to being determined.
