The appointments system at Rothesay Health Centre will be changed slightly from Monday, January 6.

Changes to the appointments system at Rothesay Health Centre will be put into effect from Monday, January 6.

As in the past, all patients phoning the health centre before 12 noon will be offered an appointment with a GP on the same day.

However, from January 6 onwards, patients booking a ‘same day’ appointment will no longer be able to choose their preferred GP for that day.

Patients wishing to see their preferred GP will be informed of the next available pre-bookable appointment with their GP of choice.

Patients who call the health centre after 12 noon will be offered one of the following options:

(i) they will be asked to call back the next morning before 12 noon, where they will be offered an appointment for that day;

(ii) they will have the opportunity to speak via telephone with the on-call GP;

(iii) if they consider their condition to be an emergency they will be advised to attend A&E at the adjacent Victoria Hospital, where they will be assessed by a nurse.

Graham Bolton, manager of The Bute Practice, said: “We hope this will allow us to manage the workload better.”
