The eagerly-awaited revamp of an abandoned Rothesay play park is finally set to get under way.

Local community group Light Up Bute have at last received confirmation that they are the new lease holders of the disused facility in the Ladeside area of the town.

The group announced its plans for the area last December, and received a £500 donation towards the project from the Clydesdale Bank’s employee volunteer programme in March.

Announcing the news on their Facebook page, the group said: “Now we can put our plans into action to regenerate the area into a community area which will include play equipment suitable for both able and disabled children.

“Our plans also include a family picnic area.

“We can’t wait to get started. Anyone wishing to volunteer your services please contact us.”
