Four candidates will contest three vacant places on Bute Community Council.

A by-election to fill three vacant places on Bute Community Council will be held on Thursday, October 8.

But the deadline for nominations is rather sooner - at 4pm on Thursday, September 3.

Nomination packs are available online from www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/elections and from the local customer service point at Eaglesham House in Rothesay.

The vacancies have been created by the resignations of three BCC members over the last 12 months - Jean Donald, Carol Sprowl and Kevin Bye.

All were among the 20 people elected when 26 candidates stood at the last full community council election in November 2013.

At the last BCC by-election, held in November 2014, five people stood for the two vacant places; Tony Harrison and Nina McDonald were elected after receiving 936 and 644 votes respectively.

By-elections will be held at nine community councils in the Bute and Cowal area in October: the others are Colintraive and Glendaruel, Strachur, Kilmun, Sandbank, Lochgoil, Kilfinan, Ardentinny and Dunoon.
