ROTHESAY’S coastguard rescue team was called to the assistance of a cyclist who got into difficulties on Bute just before 6.45pm on Tuesday evening.

The RNLI’s Tighnabruaich inshore lifeboat also went to the aid of the man, who had been cycling around the north end of the island, where there is no permanent road surface.

The man was evacuated by the lifeboat and left in the care of the local coastguard team at Rhubodach.
