Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited wants to build a new slipway at Rhubodach at the north end of Bute.

The owners of the Rhubodach ferry terminal at the north end of Bute have applied for planning permission to carry out improvement work in the area.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) is seeking approval to build a new slipway at Rhubodach, double the width of the existing facility.

Once complete, the Rhubodach work will be followed by the construction of a new, larger slipway and new marshalling area at Colintraive, at the other end of the short crossing of the east Kyle.

Building work at Rhubodach was originally due to begin this summer, but the project has since been postponed until 2016, once major repairs to the Wemyss Bay ferry terminal have been completed, in order to avoid disruption to users of both Bute ferry services at the same time.
