The founder of Bute Oasis has paid tribute to all those involved in the local non-profit organisation’s annual Christmas hamper appeal.

A total of 117 food parcels were delivered to homes around the island on December 23, ensuring those households unable to afford a Christmas feast of their own were still able to celebrate in style.

Angela Callaghan, who founded Bute Oasis in early 2014 to support the administration of the island’s food bank by Bute Advice Centre, said: “I owe a huge thank you to our whole community - without them we couldn’t do what we did.”

Income from sales of second-hand goods at the Bute Oasis shop in Argyle Street is used to buy items for the island’s food bank, which is administered by Bute Advice Centre.
