We recently reported on a Rothesay Golf Club member who would be embarking on a massive golfing challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, and we’re pleased to say he’s been successful!

Kenny Dickson and three of his colleagues, Brian Henderson, Jim Holmes and Alan King, took on a golf marathon on June 21, which involved playing four rounds of golf in one day at two courses - Kirkhill Golf Course and East Kilbride Golf Course - and have raised £3000 for the charity.

The challenge had become even more important to the men when Jacqueline Hall, described by Kenny as ‘a very special person’, sadly died from the disease just two days before they were due to begin.

Kenny told us: “It was indeed a great day which all of us will always remember.

“Special mention must be given to the fantastic response from the Rothesay members and to Capt. Mr J. Torrance for his special donation.

“We would like to thank all the people who have made donations on the website and who have given cash. We all should feel proud to have given to such a worthy cause.

“To the people of Rothesay, we thank you.”
