A CHARITY darts night in Rothesay has raised more than £500 for the Bute branch of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The competition was held in the town’s Golfers Bar on June 22 in memory of the late Thomas Officer, who died on June 19, 2011 after a short illness.

The competition was sponsored by another local firm, The Pokey Hat, and was won by John Greenshields.

Thomas’s brother Stevie and partner Christine Lambert presented a cheque for £524.27 to Beverley Scoullar, treasurer of the Bute fundraising branch of Macmillan.

Stevie said: “We want to say a big thank you to Tommy Walmsley and his staff, everyone who donated prizes, the local businesses who supported the event and Thomas’s own Black Bull darts team - we couldn’t have done it without them.”

The competition will now become an annual event.
