Four Bute residents have been honoured for their voluntary work on the island at Argyll and Bute’s Volunteer of the Year awards.

Ian Carmichael and Marlene Hill were both chosen as category winners, while Janette McIntyre and Tom McKay both took home silver awards from the ceremony in Lochgilphead.

Ian received the ‘social enterprise volunteer of the year’ prize for his work with Bute Forest, while Marlene, one of six winners in the Regional Timebank Heroes section, was recognised for her efforts at the Grow Bute community allotments, the For Bute thrift shop and the Ardencraig Gardens tearoom, recently taken on by the For Bute team.

The awards ceremony was organised by Argyll Voluntary Action and took place at Argyll and Bute Council’s HQ at Kilmory.
