Bute Community Power hopes to erect two 250kW wind turbines on land at Auchintirrie farm, near the centre of the island.

The chairman of Bute Community Power says the company’s wind energy plans are not the first step towards covering the island in turbines.

Jim Osborne was responding to those who have submitted objections to the company’s planning application for two 47-metre wind turbines at Auchintirrie farm via Argyll and Bute Council’s website.

Mr Osborne said: “It simply does not follow, because BCP’s first project is a wind project, that future projects will be wind based.

“BCP’s objective is to deploy renewable energy technologies of various types for the benefit of the local community, and to locate any particular form of technology only at a site suitable for it.”
