Bute In Bloom has been named as a finalist in the 2016 Britain in Bloom competition.

The community group has been selected from more than six hundred entrants to take part in the UK finals of the contest, which is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Bute - one of only five Scottish communities to make it through to the finals - will compete against Filey in Yorkshire, Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire, Silloth-on-Solway in Cumbria, St Brelade in Jersey, Newcastle in County Down and the Welsh resort of Tenby in the category for coastal towns with a population of fewer than 12,000 people.

Bute In Bloom chair Jessica Herriot said: “I’m delighted that Bute has reached this stage of what is a very prestigious competition.”
