Bute’s MP Alan Reid has met Arqiva, the company with the £150 million contract to improve mobile phone coverage in the UK, and pressed the case for cash to be spent in Argyll and Bute to improve coverage here.

Speaking after the meeting, Alan Reid said: “Arqiva told me that they will soon be negotiating with landowners and applying for planning permission for new masts on various sites throughout Argyll & Bute. Nothing is certain yet, but if these plans go ahead many parts of Argyll & Bute will receive 4G coverage by March 2015.

“I told Arqiva how vitally important this coverage will be for Argyll & Bute and will keep up the pressure to ensure that as much of Argyll & Bute as possible gets 4G coverage.”
