The report on Bute In Bloom’s entry in the annual Beautiful Scotland competition has been published this week.

Judges John MacLennan and Sandy Scott visited the island on August 4, taking in a number of sites and meeting volunteers who were keen to show off the very best of Bute, and deemed it worthy of a Silver Gilt medal certificate.

Introducing their report, the judges stated: “Moving away from the title ‘Rothesay in Bloom’, the group has encouraged other groups within the island to engage with the local campaign. Rothesay retains its Victorian holiday resort atmosphere and the island is rightly proud of Ardencraig Gardens.

“Both allotment sites are a credit to the groups administering them, and the THI project for the frontage of Rothesay was impressive.”
