Three Bute organisations have had funding awards totalling more than £3,400 approved by members of Argyll and Bute Council.

Achievement Bute will receive £1,925 towards the cost of its confidential family counselling service, while Bute Bowling Association will receive £500 towards the cost of its annual open bowls tournament.

The Buteshire Natural History Society will receive £1,000 to buy equipment for recording and monitoring small mammals on Bute, and to involve the wider island community in the project under the Citizen Science initiative.

Achievement Bute had asked for £4,000 and the Bute Bowling Association for £1,500, but only BNHS received the full amount applied for.

The awards, from the council’s third sector grants fund, were approved by the authority’s Bute and Cowal area committee at a meeting in Rothesay on Tuesday.
