The biggest photocall of Bute’s year took place in Rothesay town centre on Friday as the island gathered to show support for the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

Organised by Anna Harrison and her team of volunteers from the town’s Cancer Research UK charity shop, this year’s event saw local photographer Paul Simpson and his high-tec drone enlisted to take an aerial picture of the gathering, with everyone formed into a giant version of the Stand Up To Cancer logo and waving bright balloons in the campaign’s colour scheme.

The picture above shows Paul’s drone in action - we’ll publish Paul’s aerial photograph on our Facebook page as soon as we get it.

The island’s annual Stand Up To Cancer events continue on Saturday, October 17 with a car wash at Ettrick Bay courtesy of the local members of the Army Cadet Force - we’ll see you there!
