Bute’s firefighters said farewell to former colleague Graham Bolton this week.

Graham, who retired in March due to increasing work and family commitments after 17 years as part of the retained firefighting team on the island, was presented with a gift and framed certificate at the local fire station by local watch commander Roddie Shaw.

“I’d like to thank Graham for his commitment through that time,” Roddie said. “I was sorry to see him go, but I totally understand his reasons.”

“I enjoyed my time working with a great bunch of guys,” Graham added, “but I felt my time had come - not to move on to pastures new, as such, but maybe just out to pasture!”
