Bute dancers’ success at Tarbert

Pupils from the Anne McIlroy School of Dance had cause to celebrate last weekend, returning to the island with 31 medals and two trophies won at Tarbert Highland Dancing Competition.

The competition was very busy and the standard of dancing very high.

Dancing results are as follows:

Primary 5 years and under - Rachel Cameron (2nd place in Pas de Basques and Pas de Basques High Cuts)

Primary 6 years and under - Amy Jardine (1st place in Pas de Basques, Highland Fling and Sword Dance, 6th place in Pas de Basques and High Cuts); Amelia Whitelaw (5th place in the Pas de Basques and High Cuts, medal in Pas de Basques).

Beginners 10 years and under - Eilidh McTaggart (2nd place in Flora MacDonald, 5th place in Scottish Lilt, Highland Fling, 4th in Sword Dance; 3rd in Seann Truibhas, Reel); Sophie McLachlan (6h place in Seann Truibhas, 3rd in Reel); Summer Leonard (6th place in Scottish Lilt).

Novice section: 10 years and under - Harry Aiken (2nd place in Lilt, highland Fling, 4th place in Flora MacDonald, Reel).

Novice section: 11 years and over - Mollie Aiken (1st place in Flora MacDonald, Scottish Lilt, Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas, Reel, trophy for best dancer in Highland section, best dancer in national section); Jennifer Murray (3rd place in Flora MacDonald, Highland Fling, Seann Truibhas).

Premier section 12 years and under - Elena McMillan (2nd place in Sword Dance).
