The two-week nomination period for election to the next Bute Community Council is now open.
Nominations for Bute Community Council, and the 55 other community councils across Argyll and Bute, can be made between now and Friday, September 27.
If there are more nominations than places available, elections will be held on Thursday, October 31.
Anyone who wants to become a community councillor on Bute must be on the electoral register and live in the Bute Community Council area, i.e. anywhere on the island.
Their nomination also requires a proposer and a seconder, who should also be registered voters living in the area.
Nomination packs are available from Argyll and Bute Council’s customer service points (including Eaglesham House in Rothesay), from the local authority headquarters at Kilmory, and can also be downloaded from the council’s website (click on ‘Nomination packs’ near the bottom of the page).
The nomination period closes at 4pm on Friday, September 27: so if you’re fed up sniping from the sidelines, and want to actually do something to help shape the island’s future wellbeing, now’s your chance!
