The annual coffee morning held by the Bute fund-raising branch of the RNLI raised nearly £700 for the nation’s lifeboats on Saturday.

The event, hosted by the Isle of Bute Sailing Club at its premises in Rothesay’s Ardbeg Road, was attended by a steady stream of customers, and when entry fees, raffle ticket purchases and other donations were added up, a final total of £688 was realised.

The branch’s annual coffee morning has been a popular feature of Bute’s events calendar for many years. The branch itself was established in 1961 following the winding-up of the Isle of Bute Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild.
