A Wemyss Bay butcher has won the 2015 Scottish Haggis Championship.

Mearns T. McCaskie, located across the street from the ferry terminal for Rothesay, beat off competition from almost a hundred butchers at the Dewars Centre in Perth to lift the crown at the Scottish Meat Trade Fair on Sunday.

Earlier in the day the company had won the West of Scotland championship title, and it was then selected as the best of the five area champions, covering the north, east, south-east and south-west areas of the country.

Nigel Ovens, from Mearns T. McCaskie, received the award from Louise Harley of sponsors Grampian Oat Products.
