VisitBute held a volunteering pilot project in May - now the organisation is looking for people willing to join its committee to help shape the future of the island as a visitor destination.

VisitBute, the organisation set up to market the island as a holiday destination, has appealed for people to come forward and volunteer to serve on its board of directors.

The group currently has just three directors - Rothesay Pavilion manager James McMillan, Barbara Lynn from gift shop Butterflies and Sophie Reid from the Dressing Room clothes shop.

VisitBute’s AGM will be held on Wednesday, August 28, and Mr McMillan said the existing directors were keen to hear from anyone willing to join the board and help promote the island’s many virtues as a visitor destination.

“We’ve lost a number of board members recently, mostly due to health reasons,” he said, “and while circumstances have left us at a bit of a low ebb we would be delighted to welcome new people on to the board.

“VisitBute has around 70 members at present, and the AGM is open to them all, and to anyone interested in getting involved.”

The VisitBute AGM takes place on Wednesday, August 28 at 7pm in Rothesay Pavilion.
