Bute’s future as a visitor destination was top of the agenda as the Argyll and the Isles Tourism Co-operative’s roadshow rolled into Rothesay on Monday.

Local business owners were joined by directors of VisitBute, the island’s tourism and marketing organisation, at a workshop with AITC officials before a drop-in session gave the opportunity for more informal discussions.

AITC executive Mike Story told The Buteman: “It was a good session. It got people to think and it got them to be honest about what they’ve been missing and where they can improve things.

“The people who were here were very vocal, very engaged and have the ambition to be very, very good. Sharing your passion with the visitor encapsulates what tourism is all about.”

VisitBute director Sophie Reid said it had been “very, very reassuring” to hear about AITC’s plans to help market the island to potential visitors.
