Toward wind turbine application withdrawn

Plans for a 47-metre wind turbine at Toward Farm opposite Rothesay Bay have been withdrawn.

In a letter to Argyll and Bute Council planning officer Brian Close, Stephen Waters from VG Energy, agents for the applicant, David Mundell, advises: “The proposal is to be re-assessed and [the] council’s advice will be sought for any potential future application.”

The application had attracted 14 public comments before its withdrawal, most of them from Bute and most objecting to the proposal - though one respondent who fitted into neither category was Dunoon councillor Michael Breslin, who said he would “strongly support” both the Toward Farm application and a similar application for two 47-metre turbines on a site at nearby Newton Park, also facing towards Rothesay Bay.

The Newton Park application is still showing on the council’s website as ‘pending consideration’ by planners.
