The 2013 Argyll and the Isles Tourism Summit, held at Mount Stuart last week, was “a fantastic opportunity” to put both Mount Stuart and the island firmly to the top of the visitor map.
So said Connie Lovel, chief executive of the Mount Stuart Trust, after 140 delegates from all over Argyll attended the event on March 13.
Mrs Lovel said she hoped those attending the event, which was organised by the Argyll and the Isles Strategic Tourism Partnership, would help spread the word about the positives of the island - being experienced by many of the delegates for the very first time.
“It was interesting to learn that only less than a quarter of the delegates present had been to Bute and Mount Stuart before,” Mrs Lovel told The Buteman.
“I hope the summit stimulated thoughts about just how Bute can develop various initiatives in collaboration with industry and non-industry partners. We need to attract a wider audience to Bute and the work of the Argyll and Isles Tourism Partnership is but one opportunity to spread the word.”
