The Rothesay building contractor behind the new building being constructed in a former gap site in the centre of the town has thanked the public for their support for the project.

George Hanson contacted The Buteman after we posted a picture on our Facebook page following removal of the scaffolding from the front of the building at 15-19 Montague Street, on the south side of Guildford Square - a picture which attracted a flurry of positive comments.

Mr Hanson said the scaffolding had been removed around eight weeks ahead of schedule, although fitting out and exernal works will continue until March or April.

“All at George Hanson Building Contractors thank everyone for their patience, support and kind words of encouragement,” Mr Hanson said.

“The project is ahead of schedule, employing mostly local firms, and would like to say we have had a tremendous response from your readers, passers-by and the public in general, which is very uplifting and gives us all a tremendous sense of achievement.”
