Staff from Rothesay’s Webhelp TSC contact centre visited local charity Achievement Bute this week to help create a sensory garden for the island’s young people.
Working in conjunction with CSV, the UK volunteering and learning charity, the Rothesay centre contactedd Achievement Bute manager Dorothy McDonald offering their services to the organisation, which runs a range of after-school clubs and school holiday activities as well as family counselling and support services.
Five members of staff at the firm’s Barone Road centre spent a full day clearing the garden at the rear of Achievement Bute’s premises in Rothesay’s Castle Street, planting new flower beds and beginning work on a ‘barefoot sensory path’ through the site.
Dorothy said: “We got money last year from the Health and Wellbeing Fund to improve the garden, but haven’t really been able to do any work so far, so it was really fortuitous that Webhelp TSC phoned us and offered to help.
“The volunteers have been fantastic - I don’t know what we would have done without them!”
