Speculation about the future of the derelict former bathing station at the West Bay in Rothesay has been renewed by the appearance of a caravan and temporary fencing at the site on Ardbeg Road.

The owner of the derelict fromer bathing station at Rothesay’s West Bay says he’s still positive about the prospect of the site being developed.

Ron MacDonald, who has owned the site since 1994, said he hoped to secure planning permission for a combined residential and commercial development on the site within the next 12 months.

“Hopefully by then we’ll have some interested parties prepared to invest in the concept,” he said.

“I’ve had the site for nearly 20 years and I’ve never given up hope of seeing it developed.”
