The crisis facing dairy farming on Bute is set to be laid bare before MSPs at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday.
Local councillor and dairy farmer Robert Macintyre is one of several people asked to give evidence to Holyrood’s rural affairs, environment and climate change committee as part of an inquiry into the milk price crisis facing the industry all over Britain.
“We were encouraged a year ago to produce more milk, but we weren’t told where this extra milk was going to be sold,” Cllr Macintyre told The Buteman.
“The collapse of markets in China and India, and Russia’s refusal to take imports from the EU, has had dire consequences for First Milk.”
