March target for Highlands broadband deal

Highlands and Islands Enterprise hopes to confirm a deal to roll out next generation broadband to the rural communities in north and west Scotland later this month.

Argyll and Bute MP Alan Reid has been contacted by HIE after expressing his frustration at the delays in HIE signing a deal with BT to roll out improved broadband services to some of Scotland’s most isolated communities.

Mr Reid has now been told by HIE’s strategic engagement manager, Claire Ross, that “we should be able to confirm that a deal has been struck during March”.

More details on what the project will bring are expected thereafter.
