Staff at local firm Bute Fabrics made a presentation to their colleagues Janice Wasley and John Paterson this week to mark their 30 years of service with the company.

Janice came straight from school to start with with Bute Fabrics as an office junior in 1983, and today looks after the control of yarn at the company’s factory in Rothesay’s Barone Road, monitoring the arrival of material and ensuring it goes through the right processes and ends up in the right places for the production of the many different fabrics created by her colleagues.

John, the firm’s warehouse manager, and Janice aren’t the only members of Bute Fabrics’ staff to have celebrated a milestone with the company recently: design director Catherine Murray recently reached 25 years with the firm, while design and product development co-ordinator Margaret-Anne Baxter has been with the company for 20 years.

They were joined at Janice’s presentation on Thursday by operations director Eddie Planck and the company’s former production director Donald Kinnear, who retired seven years ago after 30 years with the firm.
