Former Rothesay Primary and Rothesay Academy pupil Kayleigh McAlister returned to her old schools this week to encourage the next generation of Bute students to think about how to manage their money.

Kayleigh, now working as assistant vice-president at Barclays Capital, visited Rothesay Joint Campus on Wednesday to talk to pupils about the vital ‘life skill’ of looking after their finances and to introduce them to budgeting, banking terms, understanding the difference between ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ and other key financial skills.

“Bute is the first Scottish island to take part in this programme,” Kayleigh said. “It was really important to me to be able to come back to my old school and introduce pupils to some of the tools they’ll need for the next stages in their lives.”
