A former reporter with The Buteman has scooped a £4,000 prize in a national programme for promising start-up businesses.

John Durrant of Juggling Swords beat off competition from around 120 entries in the ‘boot camp’ run by the Entrepreneurial Spark programme.

As part of the programme - of which the ‘boot camp’ is just one part - John’s company, which he describes as “a boutique content marketing and PR agency”, will get access to support and mentoring from influential business leaders such as Sir Willie Haughey.

The company is set to move into Entrepreneurial Spark’s Edinburgh office, known as The Hatchery, this month.
