A one-off evidence session on dairy prices will be heard today at Westminster.

The Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on dairy prices today (September 8, 2015).

The session - which starts at 2.30pm - will hear evidence from Sian Davies, Chief Dairy Adviser for the National Farmers Union, Michael Oakes, Dairy Board Vice Chairman of the National Farmers Union, Dr Judith Bryans, Chief Executive Officer for Dairy UK, and George Eustice MP, Minister of State for Farming, Food and the Marine Environment.

The evidence session can be watched live on the Committee’s website, and a video and transcript will be made available on the same page in the new few days.

The session came about following the circulation of a petition calling for the introduction of minimum prices milk buyers purchase their milk for from farmers. At the time of writing, the petition had received 53,268 signatures, (over five times the amount required for the petition to be discussed by the government).
