Young job hunters in Rothesay were given a talk on careers in the hospitality industry by the owner of a local restaurant and B&B this week.

Sara Goss-Melvin, who, along with her husband Paul, owns and runs Harry Haw’s in the High Street and The Boat House in Battery Place, spoke to the group, all of whom are claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, at the Rothesay JobCentre Plus.

Julie Johnston from the JobCentre said: “One in ten jobs in the UK are related to food, and we waht to highlight the the positives of working in the industry.

“We want to encourage local employers to consider giving local job seekers some work experience - unfortunately we can’t guarantee there will be a job at the end of it but the experience is still valuable and gives them something to put on their CV. “
