Tenants of a Rothesay-based housing association are in line to pay significantly less for the energy they use in their homes.

Fyne Homes is one of 35 councils and social landlords across Scotland who have joined forces in Our Power Energy, the UK’s first independent non-profit distributing energy company.

Pre-payment meters in all Fyne Homes’ void properties are to be switched over to the Our Power Energy tariff in the next few months - and it is hoped that existing tenants will be given the option of switching by the end of 2016.

Karen Hilton from Fyne Homes said: “When I first saw a presentation on the idea of Our Power Energy I thought ‘this is a no-brainer’, because at the moment the people who can least afford high energy bills are paying the most.”
