A small Bute company which turns Scottish words and phrases into eye-catching acrylic jewellery is set to feature on Britain’s TV screens this week.

Mhairi Mackenzie, the founder of Bonnie Bling, was interviewed by reporter John Maguire from the BBC’s Breakfast programme on Monday for a short item due to air this Wednesday, October 24.

The interview concentrated on the ‘crowdfunding’ campaign Mhairi ran earlier this year, previously featured in The Buteman, which raised enough money to allow the firm to buy a laser cutting machine and to create local jobs by basing its manufacturing operation on Bute.

The cameraman who accompanied Mr Maguire filmed a short segment with the laser machine in action at the firm’s manufacturing hub - the rear of the Brandish Bute shop in Rothesay’s East Princes Street.

Bonnie Bling’s crowdfunding campaign was also the focus of a report on BBC Radio Scotland’s Business Scotland programme, which was broadcast at 6am on Saturday and repeated at 10am the following day.
