The organisers of Scottish Apprenticeship Week want to see more Argyll and Bute businesses employing modern apprentices.

Skills Development Scotland wants to work with local bosses to recruit 25,000 new modern apprentices – matching the 25,000 training last year across more than 80 different occupations.

The drive to recruit more MAs coincides with the third annual Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which begins on Monday, May 20.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week also sees the launch of the Modern Apprenticeship Awards, now in their 12th year, which were set up to recognise the achievements of apprentices and employers.

John McClelland, chair of Skills Development Scotland, said: “It has never been more important for businesses across Scotland to grow and develop a skilled workforce in a competitive and cohesive way.”
