More than £400 was raised for a Rothesay woman’s forthcoming charity trip to Africa with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme at the inaugural Golfers Bar Open at Rothesay Bowling Club on Sunday.

The money will be used to help Jade Officer with the expenses associated with her trip to Gungar in Gambia, where she will work with the local community on a volunteer development trip in November.

Forty-six bowlers took part in the competition, with David Reynolds’ rink defeating that of Alan Cowan in the final.

A total of £402.50 was raised for Jade’s forthcoming trip during the course of the day.
