Book Week Scotland title available free on Bute ferries

A new book specially published for Book Week Scotland and containing works by two Bute authors is to be given away free of charge on Caledonian MacBrayne ferries.

Alison Clark and Ann Foster have both contributed pieces to ‘My Favourite Place’, a tribute to Scotland’s best-loved places, containing a selection of stories from members of the public and authors.

The book will be given away on all CalMac’s larger ferries between November 26 and December 2 - including the three ferries on the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay route, MV Argyle, MV Bute and the relief ship MV Coruisk - as well as in libraries, bookshops, museums, businesses, arts venues, railway stations, workplaces and in 62 Specsavers shops across the country.

Andrew Collier, head of commercial development at CalMac, said: “A ferry journey is the perfect opportunity to relax and read a book, so we are delighted to lend our support to Book Week Scotland by making this special free publication available on our larger ferries.”

Alison Clark’s contrbiution to the book is entitled ‘The Clyde at Rothesay Bay’, while Ann Foster’s piece describes the beauty of Ardencraig Gardens on the edge of the town.

The programme of events for Book Week Scotland also includes a talk at Rothesay Library by award-winning crime writer Caro Ramsay, on Wednesday, November 28 at 7.30pm - to book a place contact the library on (01700) 503266.
