SEVEN local people have been left out of work after a Rothesay pub abruptly closed its doors to the public.

Jenny Meade, the owner of The Boat in Victoria Street, has told The Buteman that she intends to have “systems in place” to enable the premises to re-open on Friday morning - while a notice has been placed in the premises’ front window apologising for the closure “due to essential reorganisation and repairs”.

But the pub’s former manager, George Cunningham, said the seven staff had been left “wageless, annual leave-less and jobless” by the sudden decision to shut the pub.
