The 90th birthday of one of Bute’s two branches of the Scottish Women’s Rural Institute has been marked at a celebratory dinner on the island.

Among those attending Ballianlay WRI’s birthday celebrations were Irene MacFarlane, chair of the Renfrewshire Federation of the SWRI, of which all three of the island’s ‘rurals’ are a part, and Jessmay Morton, vice-president of Port Bannatyne WRI.

The job of cutting the celebratory birthday cake fell to Beth Duncan, one of Ballianlay WRI’s oldest members, before the Bute Ceilidh Band provided the soundtrack to an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.
