FATE had a big part to play last week when two Lancashire ladies separately booked holidays to Rothesay - and were reunited as long-lost relatives after 50 years!

Irene Belshaw and her aunt Mildred Cornes hadn’t seen each other for half a century until their eyes met by chance across the dining room of the Glenburn Hotel in Rothesay.

“It was my birthday the day before we came here,” Mildred told The Buteman, “and at night I said a wee prayer asking that God send me my family - and it was answered.”
