The winners of Argyll Community Housing Association’s annual ‘Bute in Bloom’ garden competition were announced on Friday.

This year there were two groups of winners - one selected by ACHA themselves, the other by the isalnd’s three councillors, Isobel Strong, Robert Macintyre and Len Scoullar.

The ACHA prizes went to Liz Barbi for the best garden and Iain Crichton for the best container, with Pat Docherty and Mary Henderson runners-up in the respective categories.

The councillors, though, awarded first prize to Anne Queen, with second going to Liz Barbi and third to Iain Crichton.

Jeanett McIntyre, from ACHA’s Bute and Cowal area committee, said: “Thanks go to all the tenants who entered the competition and maintain their gardens so well year upon year.

“It’s fantastic to see so many tenants getting enjoyment from their garden, and this certainly improves the overall look of the areas.”
