Few things are more rewarding on a warm summer’s day than a leisurely walk in the countryside - as two groups of walkers from Bute and Colintraive proved this week.

The Bute health walking group, which meets for a stroll every Thursday, joined the Colintraive ‘Walking for Health’ members for a gentle walk from North Bute Cemetery to Ettrick Bay.

Their journey took them along the Tramway Walk, a purpose-built path created under the Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme and following the route of the Rothesay Tramways Company, which ran tram services to and from Ettrick Bay between 1905 and 1936.
